Have you filed your tax return and awaiting a refund? The good news is that you don’t have to be left in the dark in regards to the status of your refund. The IRS has a great tool on their website that allows you to instantly check on your refund status.
The only pieces of information you need are:
- Social Security number or EIN as used on the return
- The exact refund amount as filed on your return
- Marital status
If it has been more than 28 days since it says the IRS mailed your refund you will be able to initiate a refund trace online. Also, if the tool informs you that the IRS was unable to deliver your refund you will be allowed to change your address.
